TASK 72-00-32-450-006 LPC/Intermediate Case Module Components - Install The Fuel Flow Transmitter, Installation-013

General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

Do not remove the special plastic caps from the electrical connectors and receptacles until immediately before they are connected. This will give protection from unwanted fluids or materials.

During the installation procedure make sure that the harnesses are held temporarily along their different lengths. This is to prevent too much strain on the harnesses, cables and electrical connectors.

For the data on the electrical connectors refer to the SPM TASK 70-43-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-43-01-400-501.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501, SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

For the torque tightening procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in this procedure.

Special torque data is identified with the symbol * after the torque value.

For lockwire data and procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

For safety cable data and procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-42-08-400-501.

Safety the threaded fasteners in the ATA Chapter/Section/Subject 71-51-41 as applicable with CoMat 02-274 SAFETY CABLE KIT or CoMat 02-275 SAFETY CABLE KIT.

NOTE

  1. To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

  2. SBE 70-0813 : Announcement of introduction of safety cable as a preferred method to lockwire.

  3. Safety the threaded fasteners in this TASK with safety cable for the ATA Chapter/Section/Subject detailed in 2. General.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-32-450-058-A00 V2500-A1: Install the Fuel Flow Transmitter (73-31-17,01-100)

    1. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      2. Install the transmitter.

      2. Install the packing on the tube 109. Attach the transmitter and the bracket ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-070) to the tube 109 with the three bolts ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-106).

      4. Install the packing on the tube 94. Attach the tube 94 and the bracket ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-470) to the transmitter with the three bolts ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-506).

      5. Torque the six bolts (ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-106) and ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-506)) to 85 to 105 lbf.in (10 to 12 Nm).

      6. WARNING

        WHEN YOU USE INHIBITED AND STABILIZED TRICHLORETHANE YOU MUST USE THE NECESSARY PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THE SOLVENT ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. YOU MUST NOT SMOKE WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENT AS THE VAPOR CHANGES AND BECOMES TOXIC.

        Remove the grease, the fingerprints and the unwanted material from the mating surfaces of the raceway Fan Harness Support Raceways (71-51-50, 01-100) bonding lug and the transmitter bonding lead with CoMat 01-002 SOLVENT, DELETED.. Use a clean lint free cloth moistened with the solvent.

      7. Clean the contact (washer) surfaces of the bolt, the nut and the two washers (ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL FLOWMETER (73-31-17, 01-125), ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL FLOWMETER(73-31-17,01-132) and ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL FLOWMETER (73-31-17, 01-126)) as given in step (5).

      8. Attach the transmitter bonding lead to the raceway bonding lug with the bolt, the two washers and the nut. Torque the nut to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      9. Pre SBE 73-0045: Install the bolts, the washers, the nuts and the clipnuts at the clip positions 0255, 1038, 0253, 0965, 1049 and 0322. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      10. SBE 73-0045: Install the bolts, washers, the spacer, the nuts and the clipnuts at the clip positions 0255, 1038, 0253, 0965, 1049 and 0322. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      3. Connect the electrical connector and harness.

      1. Attach the harness to the bracket with the bolt, the washer and the clipnut at the clip position 1032. Torque the bolt to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      2. Remove the ties which attach the electrical harness/connector 4010KS-A to the FMU harness at the electrical connector 4000KC-B.

      3. Connect the electrical connector 4010KS-A to the transmitter. Torque the connector to 14*lbf.in (1.6 Nm).

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-32-450-058-B00 V2500-A5: Install the Fuel Flow Transmitter (73-31-17,01-100) (Pre SBE 73-0049 and SBE 73-0049)

    1. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      2. Install the transmitter.

      2. Install the packing on the tube 109. Attach the transmitter and the bracket ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-070) to the tube with the three bolts ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-106).

      4. Install the packing on the tube 94. Attach the tube 94 and the bracket ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-470) to the transmitter with the three bolts ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-506).

      5. Torque the six bolts (ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-106) and ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-FUEL SYSTEM TUBES-ENGINE (73-11-49, 07-506)) to 85 to 105 lbf.in (10 to 12 Nm).

      8. Attach the transmitter bonding lead to the raceway bonding lug with the bolt, the two washers and the nut. Torque the nut to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      9. Pre SBE 73-0049: Install the bolts, the washers, the nuts and the clipnuts at the clip positions 0322, 0255, 0965, 0253 and 1134. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      10. SBE 73-0049: Install the bolts, the washers, the spacers, the nuts and the clipnuts at the clip positions 0322, 0255, 0965, 0253 and 1134. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbf.in (4 to 5 Nm).

      3. Connect the electrical connector.

      1. Remove the ties which attach the electrical harness/connector 4010KS-A to the FMU harness at the electrical connector 4000KC-B.

      2. Connect the electrical connector 4010KS-A to the transmitter. Torque the connector to 14*lbf.in (1.6 Nm).

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-32-210-058 Visually Inspect the Electrical Backshells and Cable Clamps

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure that all the applicable connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.

    3. Make sure that all the applicable backshells and cable clamps are safetied with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-32-210-059 Visually Inspect the EEC Harness (01-005) Electrical Backshells and Cable Clamps (SBE 70-0813)

    1. SBE 70-0813: Announcement of introduction of safety cable as a preferred method to lockwire.

    2. NOTE

      Use this procedure to safety the EEC harness backshells and cable clamps with safety cable.

      Refer to Figure.

    3. Make sure that all the EEC harness connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.

    4. Make sure that all the EEC harness backshells and cable clamps are safetied. Safety with CoMat 02-274 SAFETY CABLE KIT or with CoMat 02-275 SAFETY CABLE KIT. Refer to SPM TASK 70-42-08-400-501.
