TASK 72-45-00-200-801 HP Turbine (HPT) Rotor And Stator Assembly - Examine The HPT After Possible Oil Ignition Event, Inspection-001
General
This TASK gives the procedure for the inspection of the HPT for a possible oil ignition event.
The policy that is necessary for inspection is given in the SPM TASK 70-20-00-200-501.
This inspection is necessary when one of the following events occur:
Necessary if stated in All Ops Wire (AOW) 1046. Engines that are listed in AOW 1046 that had an IFSD and have not incorporated SBE 72-0351 (A1 engines), SBE 72-0190 (A5 engines) and SBE 72-120, which cannot borescope the stage 1 HPT metering plugs as given in SBE 72-0349. Only A1 engines with the Pre SBE 72-123 plugs can qualify for borescope inspection. Refer to SBE 72-0349.
Oil was found in the turbine exhaust case that came from the No. 4 bearing oil weep tube outlet. Refer to TASK 72-00-50-220-004 for inspection of the tube outlet in the TEC.
Oil consumption is more than 0.3 Qts/hour which is due to internal leakage from the No. 4 compartment or No. 4 oil service tubes or of an unknown origin.
Oil leaks from the No. 4 compartment or associated plumbing. Refer to SBE 72-0419.
The High Pressure Turbine appears black and sooty.
Blocked anti-weep groove and related drain oil holes in No. 4 Bearing Front Seal Seat Section 72-43-11 or No. 4 Bearing Rear Seal Seat Section 72-43-14.
