TASK 72-00-40-020-003-B00 HP System Module - Remove The Components, Ducts, Electrical Harnesses, And Tubes From The HPC Case Vertical Splitline, Removal-003

General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the components, ducts, electrical harnesses and tubes from the HP compressor case vertical splitline. Refer to the TASKs which follow for other related procedures:

TASK 72-00-40-020-001-B00 - Remove the components, the electrical harnesses and the tubes from the HP turbine,

TASK 72-00-40-020-002-B00 - Remove and disconnect the components, the electrical harnesses and the tubes from the front of the HP compressor case,

TASK 72-00-40-020-004 - Remove the remaining HP system module components, tubes and the air off-take ducts.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before Fig./item number.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal.

Remove and discard the lockwire before the tube or connector is disconnected.

When electrical connections are disconnected special plastic caps must be installed.

All the electrical harnesses removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-EHC-V2500-1IA).

All the tubes, hoses and ducts removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA).

Seal all openings to prevent contamination from unwanted materials.

Discard all rubber seal rings removed in this procedure.

NOTE

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-197-A00 Remove the HP Bleed Control Air Tube (48) (Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 79-0088 and SBE 79-0088)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5782 and 5783.

    4. SBE 79-0088: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 6094, 6095, 6096, 6097 and 6098.

    5. Remove the tube 48.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-197-B00 Remove the HP Bleed Control Air Tube (48) (Pre SBE 79-0088, SBE 72-0189, SBE 79-0088 and SBE 73-0128)

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the clips, the washers, the bolt and the nut at the clip positions 6095, 6096 and 6098.

    4. SBE 73-0128: Remove the clips, the washers, the bolt and the nut at the clip positions 6094.

    5. SBE 79-0088: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 6094, 6095, 6096, 6097 and 6098.

    6. Remove the tube 48.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-198 Remove the Cabin Bleed Air System Ducts, Valves and Sense Tubes (Pre SBE 36-0007 and SBE 36-0007)

    2. Refer to Figure, Fig.72-00-990-341-002, Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove the upper duct assembly.

      2. Remove the coupling that attaches the upper duct assembly to the pressure regulator bleed valve.

      3. Remove the nut, the bolt and the washer that attach the connecting rod to the bracket HPC Assembly (72-41-00, 03-770).

      4. Remove the nut, the bolt and the washer that attach the link to the brackets HPC Module - Attaching Parts (72-40-00, 01-760 and HPC Module - Attaching Parts 72-40-00, 01-770).

      5. Remove the upper duct assembly.

      6. Remove the seal.

      1. Remove the pressure regulator bleed valve Bleed Pressure Regulator Valve (36-11-52, 01-050).

      2. Disconnect the electrical connector 4001HA-A.

      3. NOTE

        The hose PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-200) must have its maintenance completed, as given in the Marston Palmer Ltd. Component Maintenance Manual (36-21-49).

        Disconnect and remove the hose PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-200) from the tube connected to the pressure regulator bleed valve.

      4. Pre SBE 36-0007: Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-510) from the pressure regulator bleed valve. Loosen the applicable clip positions to give clearance for tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-510).

      5. SBE 36-0007: Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-600) from the pressure regulator bleed valve.

      6. Remove the coupling that attaches the pressure bleed valve to the 'Y' duct.

      7. NOTE

        The pressure regulator bleed valve must have its maintenance completed, as given in the ABG Semca Component Maintenance Manual (36-11-52).

        Remove the pressure regulator bleed valve.

      8. Remove the seal.

      1. Remove the Y-duct.

      2. Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-500) from the union PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-650). Loosen the applicable clip positions to give sufficient clearance for tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-500). Remove the union and K-seal from the duct PNEUMATIC-BLEED AIR DUCTS (36-11-49, 01-300).

      3. Disconnect and remove tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-725) from the hose PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-700).

      4. NOTE

        The hose PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-700) must have its maintenance completed, as given in the Marston Palmer Ltd. Component Maintenance Manual (36-21-49).

        Disconnect and remove the hose PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-700) from the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-500).

      5. Remove clip positions 5923 and 6064 and remove tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 02-500).

      6. Remove the coupling that attaches the Y-duct to the IP bleed check valve.

      7. Remove the coupling that attaches the Y-duct to the lower duct assembly.

      8. Remove the Y-duct.

      9. Remove the two seals.

      1. Remove the lower duct assembly.

      2. Remove the coupling that attaches the lower duct assembly to the HP bleed valve.

      3. Remove the lower duct assembly.

      4. Remove the seal.

      1. Remove the HP bleed valve.

      2. Disconnect the electrical connector 4000HA-A.

      3. Pre SBE 36-0007: Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-100) from the HP bleed valve. Loosen the applicable clip positions to give clearance to the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-510).

      4. SBE 36-0007: Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-600) from the HP bleed valve.

      5. Remove the coupling that attaches the HP bleed valve to the HP10 cabin air duct.

      6. NOTE

        The HP bleed valve must have its maintenance completed, as given in the ABG Semca Component Maintenance Manual (36-11-51).

        Remove the HP bleed valve.

      7. Remove the seal.

      1. Remove the IP bleed check valve.

      2. Remove the coupling that attaches the IP bleed check valve to the HP7 bleed valve/cabin air duct.

      3. NOTE

        The IP bleed check valve must have its maintenance completed, as given in the ABG Semca Component Maintenance Manual (36-11-41).

        Remove the IP bleed check valve.

      4. Remove the seal.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-208-A00 Remove the Remaining Cabin Bleed System Sense Tubes (Pre SBE 36-0007 and SBN 71-0273)

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the remaining cabin bleed system sense tubes.

      2. Remove the attaching parts at clip positions 5862 and 5931, remove the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-100).

      3. Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-500) from the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-510).

      4. Remove the clip positions 5495, 5997 and 5865. Remove the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-500).

      5. Remove the clip positions 5996 and 6108. Remove the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-510).

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-208-B00 Remove the Remaining Cabin Bleed System Sense Tubes (SBE 36-0007)

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the remaining cabin bleed system sense tubes.

      2. Disconnect the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-600) from the pressure regulator bleed valve Bleed Pressure Regulator Valve (36-11-52, 01-050) and the high pressure bleed valve PNEUMATIC-HP BLEED VALVE (36-11-51, 01-050).

      3. Remove the clip positions 5657, 5647 and 5591. Remove the tube PNEUMATIC-PRESSURE INDICATING TUBES (36-21-49, 01-600).

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-199-A01 Remove the Ignition Exciter Cross Brackets and the Support Tubes (Pre SBE 74-0001)

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the cross brackets.

      2. Use the ACR TORQ-SET BIT (212-1/4-ACR) to remove the four screws from the upper and lower cross brackets.

      3. Remove the bolt and the clipnuts that attach each of the two upper cross brackets in position. Remove the two upper cross brackets.

      4. Remove the bolts, the bracket and the clipnuts that attach each of the two lower cross brackets in position. Remove the two lower cross brackets.

    3. Remove the two bolts and the clipnuts that attach each of the support tubes in position and remove the support.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-199-B01 Remove the Brackets for the Ignition Exciters (SBE 74-0001)

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Remove the bolts and the clipnuts that attach the support brackets for the ignition exciters and remove the brackets.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-200 Remove the Fire Detection, the Nacelle Temperature and the Cabin Services Harnesses (Pre SBN 71-0273, Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 75-0081, Pre SBE 79-0088, SBN 71-0273, SBE 72-0189, SBE 75-0081 and SBE 79-0088)

      1. Remove the fire detection (system A) nacelle temperature and cabin services harness.

      2. Remove the nuts and the bolts that attach the four earth leads to the bracket HPC Assembly (72-41-00, 03-760).

      3. Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 79-0088 and Pre SBN 71-0273: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5804, 5901, 5918, 5766, 5920, 5919, 5904, 5905, 5764, 5763, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5913.

      4. Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 79-0088 and SBN 71-0273: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 6075, 6079, 6084, 6088, 6112, 5766, 5940, 6098, 5648, 5905, 5764, 5763, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5913.

      5. SBE 72-0189, Pre SBN 71-0273, Pre SBE 79-0088 and Pre SBE 75-0081: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5938, 5939, 5766, 5940, 5941, 6098, 5648, 5765, 5764, 5763, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5913.

      6. SBE 72-0189, SBN 71-0273, Pre SBE 79-0088 and Pre SBE 75-0081: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 6075, 6079, 6084, 6088, 6112, 5766, 5940, 6098, 5648, 5765, 5764, 5763, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5913.

      7. SBE 72-0189, Pre SBN 71-0273 and SBE 750081: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5804, 5901, 5918, 5766, 5920, 5919, 5904, 5747, 6058, 6107, 5652, 5921, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5922, 5924, 5925 and 5990.

      8. SBE 72-0189, SBN 71-0273, Pre SBE 79-0088 and SBE 75-0081: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 6075, 6079, 6084, 6088, 6112, 5766, 5940, 6098, 5648, 5747, 6058, 6107, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5990.

      9. SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolts, the nuts, the washers, the spacers and the clips from the clip positions 6120, 6126, 6075, 6079, 6084, 6088, 6112, 5766, 5940, 6098, 5648, 5747, 6058, 6107, 5652, 5921, 5922, 6064, 5923, 6066, 5924, 5925 and 5990.

      10. Remove the fire detection (system A) nacelle temperature and cabin services harness.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-201 Remove the High Energy Ignition Harnesses

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. CAUTION

        DO NOT BEND THE HIGH ENERGY IGNITION HARNESS MORE THAN IS NECESSARY, YOU CAN DAMAGE THE CONDUIT.

        Remove the No. 1 High Energy Ignition Harness.

      2. Remove the two clamps and the two shrouds from the igniter end of the harness.

      3. Disconnect the harness from the igniter plug.

      4. Remove the bolts, the washers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5564, 5566 and 5756.

      5. Remove the bolts, the washers, the spacers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5757 and 5760.

      6. Remove the No. 1 high energy ignition harness.

      1. Remove the No. 2 high energy ignition harness.

      2. Repeat Step and Step.

      3. Remove the bolt, the washer, the clipnut and the clips from the clip position 5450.

      4. Remove the nut, the washer, the bolt and the clip from the clip position 5758.

      5. Remove the bolt, the washer, the clipnut and the clip from the clip position 5759.

      6. NOTE

        The high energy ignition harnesses must have their maintenance completed, as given in the YOKOKAWA Component Maintenance Manual (74-21-43).

        Remove the No. 2 high energy ignition harness.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-202 Remove the HP Compressor Bleed Valve Air Tubes (Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 79-0088, SBE 72-0189 and SBE 79-0088)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Fig.72-00-990-345-003, Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. Disconnect the tube 32 from the stage 7 HP compressor bleed valve. Remove the tube 32.

      1. Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the tubes 63, 64 and 65.

      2. Pre SBE 72-0189: Remove the bolt, the washer, the spacer, the clipnut and the clips from the clip position 5641.

      3. SBE 72-0189: Remove the clips, the clipnuts, the spacer and the bolts at the clip position 6089 and 6093.

      4. Disconnect the tubes 63, 64 and 65 from the tubes 49, 50 and 51.

      5. Remove the tubes 63, 64 and 65.

      1. SBE 79-0088: Remove the tubes 63, 64 and 65.

      2. Remove the bolt, the washers, the spacers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5595, 5641, 5659, 5675, 6072, 6075 and 6121.

      3. Remove the bolt, the washers, the clipnuts or nuts and the clips from the clip positions 5397, 5450, 5643, 6121, 6123 and 6126.

      4. Disconnect the tubes 63, 64 and 65 from the bifurcation panel.

      5. Disconnect the tube 64 from the stage 10 HP compressor bleed valve.

      6. Disconnect the tubes 63 and 65 from the two stage 7 HP compressor bleed valve.

      7. Remove the tubes 63, 64 and 65.

      1. Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the tubes 49, 50 and 51.

      2. Pre SBE 72-0189: Remove the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5642.

      3. Pre SBE 71-0199: Remove the clip, the clipnut and the bolt from the clip position 6073.

      4. Pre SBE 72-0189: Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clips from the clip position 5643.

      5. SBE 72-0189: Remove the nut, the bolt and the clips from the clip position 5643.

      6. Remove the bolt, the washer, the clip and the clipnut from the clip position 5397.

      7. Disconnect the tube 49 from the stage 10 HP compressor bleed valve.

      8. Disconnect the tubes 50 and 51 from the two stage 7 HP compressor bleed valves.

      9. Remove the tubes 49, 50 and 51.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-203 Remove the Stage 7 Silencers, the Seal Assemblies and the Bleed Valves (Pre SBE 75-0071, Pre SBE 75-0092, Pre SBE 75-0093, Pre SBE 75-0105, SBE 75-0071, SBE 75-0092, SBE 75-0093 and SBE 75-0105)

      1. Pre SBE 75-0071: Remove the stage 7 silencer, the seal assembly and the bleed valve from the 8 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve assembly.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts that attach the silencer and seal assembly to the bleed valve and remove the silencer and seal assembly.

      1. SBE 75-0071: Remove the stage 7 silencer assembly and the bleed valve from the 8 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve assembly.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts that attach the silencer assembly to the bleed valve and remove the silencer assembly.

      1. Pre SBE 75-0071: Remove the stage 7 silencer, the seal assembly and the bleed valve from the 2 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the silencer and the seal assembly to the bleed valve and remove the silencer and seal assembly.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve.

      1. SBE 75-0071, Pre SBE 75-0092 and Pre SBE 75-0093: Remove the stage 7 silencer assembly and the bleed valve from the 2 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the silencer assembly to the bleed valve and remove the silencer assembly.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve.

      1. SBE 75-0092: Remove the stage 7 silencer assembly, the spacer and the bleed valve from the 2 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the silencer assembly and the spacer to the bleed valve. Remove the silencer assembly and the spacer.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve.

      1. SBE 75-0093: Remove the stage 7 silencer assembly and the bleed valve from the 2 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the silencer assembly to the bleed valve. Remove the silencer assembly.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve.

      1. Remove the stage 7 seal assembly and bleed valve from the 4 o'clock position.

      2. Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the seal assembly to the bleed valve and remove the seal assembly.

      3. NOTE

        1. The bleed valves must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Dunlop Component Maintenance Manual (75-32-52).

        2. The silencers and seal assemblies must have their maintenance completed, as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA).

        Remove the 12 bolts and nuts that attach the bleed valve to the air off-take duct and remove the bleed valve.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-204 Remove the Stage 7 Air Off-Take Ducts

      1. Remove the stage 7 air off-take duct (at the 8 o'clock position).

      2. Remove the bolt, the washer, the clip and the clipnut at the clip position 5569.

      3. Remove the 12 bolts and the two brackets, that attach the stage 7 air off-take duct to the HP compressor case.

    2. Remove the 12 bolts (together with the brackets) that attach the stage 7 air off-take duct to the HP compressor case (at the 2 o'clock position) and remove the duct.

    3. Remove the 12 bolts (together with the bracket) that attach the stage 7 air off-take duct to the HP compressor case (at the 4 o'clock position) and remove the duct.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-205 Remove the Oil Feed Tubes (21, 23 and 24) (Pre SBE 72-0189, Pre SBE 79-0088, SBE 72-0189 and SBE 79-0088)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove the tube 23.

      2. Pre SBE 72-0189 and Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolts, the washers, the clips and the clipnuts from the clip positions 5659 and 5665.

      3. SBE 72-0189 and Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the clip, the clipnut and the bolt from the clip position 6087.

      4. SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolts, the washers, the spacers, the clips and the clipnuts from the clip positions 6086.

      5. SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolts, the washers, the clips and the clipnuts from the clip positions 6085 and 6087.

      6. Remove the tube 23.

      1. Remove the tube 21.

      2. Remove the bolt, the washer, the spacer, the clip and the clipnut from the clip position 5591.

      3. Remove the nut, the bolts, the washer, the spacer and the clips from the clip position 5569 and 5768.

      4. Disconnect the tube 21 from the diffuser case adapter.

      5. Remove the three nuts and the three bolts that attach the tube 21 to the tube 24 together with the bracket OIL-PRESSURE OIL TUBES-ENGINE (79-21-49, 13-070).

      6. Remove the tube 21.

      7. Remove the seal ring.

      8. Remove the filter from the tube 21. Temporarily attach the filter to the tube 21.

      1. Remove the tube 24.

      2. Pre SBE 72-0189 and Pre SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolt, the clip and the clipnut from the clip position 5664.

      3. Pre SBE 72-0189 and SBE 79-0088: Remove the bolt, the clip, the washer and the clipnut from the clip position 5664.

      4. Remove the tube 24.

      5. Remove the two nuts and the two bolts that attach the bracket OIL-PRESSURE OIL TUBES-ENGINE (79-21-49, 13-090) to the bracket HPC Assembly (72-41-00, 03-510).

      6. Remove the bracket OIL-PRESSURE OIL TUBES-ENGINE (79-21-49, 13-090).
