TASK 72-00-40-020-001-A00 HP System Module - Remove The Components, Electrical Harnesses, And Tubes From The HPT, Removal-001

General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the components, electrical harnesses, tubes and brackets from the HP turbine module. Refer to the TASKs which follow for other related procedures.

TASK 72-00-40-020-002-A00 (REMOVAL-002, CONFIG-001) - Remove and disconnect the components, the electrical harnesses and the tubes from the front of the HP compressor case.

TASK 72-00-40-020-003-A00 (REMOVAL-003, CONFIG-001) - Remove the components, the ducts, the electrical harness and the tubes from the HP Compressor case vertical splitline.

TASK 72-00-40-020-004 (REMOVAL-004) - Remove the remaining HP system module components, the tubes and the air off-take ducts.

Fig./item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig./item number.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedure, refer to the SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Remove and discard the lockwire before the tube or connector is disconnected.

When electrical connections are disconnected special plastic caps must be installed.

All the electrical harnesses removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-EHC-V2500-1IA).

All the tubes, hoses and ducts removed in this procedure must have their maintenance completed as given in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM-THD-V2500-1IA).

Seal all openings to prevent contamination from unwanted materials.

Discard all rubber seal rings and cotter pins removed in this procedure.

Consumable materials as given in the related SPM TASK.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-072-A00 Remove the Active Clearance Control (ACC) Valve, the Front Duct and the Rear Duct (Pre SBE 75-0030)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Disconnect the ACC valve from the ACC actuator.

      2. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bolt from the end of the actuator rod adjacent to the ACC actuator.

      3. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bolt from the end of the stator rod adjacent to the ACC actuator.

      4. Disconnect the actuator rod and the stator rod and temporarily assemble the nuts and bolts in their positions to prevent the bushes being lost.

      1. SBE 75-0025 - Remove the ACC valve front duct assembly.

      2. Remove the two bolts that attach the cover assembly to the front duct.

      3. Remove the cover assembly from the front duct.

      1. Remove the ACC valve, the front duct and the rear duct assembly.

      2. Remove the cotter pin, the nut, the bolt and the two bushes that attach the link to the brackeV2500-A5-72-41-00-05A-941A-D (72-41-00, 05-500).

      3. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bush that attach the crank to the bracket ENGINE-SECURING FEATURES-HP COMPRESSOR CASES (72-41-00, 01-790).

      4. Remove the ACC valve, the front duct and the rear duct assembly.

      1. Remove the rear duct from the ACC valve.

      2. Remove the six nuts, the six bolts and the bracket that attach the rear duct to the ACC valve.

      3. Remove the rear duct.

      1. Remove the front duct from the ACC valve.

      2. Remove the four nuts and the four bolts that attach the heatshield to the front duct.

      3. Remove the two nuts and the two bolts that attach the two clamps to the heatshield.

      4. Remove the heatshield and the two clamps.

      5. Remove the 12 nuts amd the 12 bolts that attach the front duct to the ACC valve.

      6. NOTE

        The ACC valve must have its maintenance completed as given in the Parker Hannifin Component Maintenance Manual (75-24-51).

        Remove the front duct from the ACC valve.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-072-B00 Remove the Active Clearance Control (ACC) Valve, the Front Duct and the Rear Duct (SBE 75-0030)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Disconnect the ACC valve from the ACC actuator.

      2. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bolt from the end of the actuator rod adjacent to the ACC actuator.

      3. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bolt from the end of the stator rod adjacent to the ACC actuator.

      4. Disconnect the actuator rod and the stator rod and temporarily assemble the nuts and bolts in their positions to prevent the bushes being lost.

      1. SBE 75-0025 - Remove the ACC valve front duct assembly.

      2. Remove the two bolts that attach the cover assembly to the front duct.

      3. Remove the cover assembly from the front duct.

      1. Remove the ACC HPT valve link AIR-ACTIVE CLEARANCE CONTROL VALVE (75-24-51, 02-100).

      2. Remove the bolt, the nut and the two bushes that attach the ACC HPT valve link to the bracket on flange FM.

      3. Remove the bolt, the nut and the two bushes that attach the ACC HPT valve link to the ACC housing.

      4. Remove the valve link.

      1. Remove the ACC HPT valve link AIR-ACTIVE CLEARANCE CONTROL VALVE (75-24-51, 02-250).

      2. Use the IAE 1J13504 Puller 1 off to remove the bolt, the nut and the bushes that attach the ACC HPT valve link to the bracket on flange FM.

      3. Remove the bolt, the nut and the bushes that attach the valve link to the ACC housing.

      4. Remove the valve link.

      1. Remove the five bolts that attach the ACC housing AIR-ACTIVE CLEARANCE CONTROL VALVE (75-24-51, 01-275) to the HPT/LPT ACC air valve.

      2. Remove the ACC housing.

      3. Remove the four bolts, the joint heat shield, the ACC seal and the ACC seal retainer.

      1. Remove the ACC valve, the front duct and the rear duct assembly.

      2. Remove the cotter pin, the nut, the bolt and the two bushes that attach the link to the bracket V2500-A5-72-41-00-05A-941A-D (72-41-00, 05-500).

      3. Remove the cotter pin, the nut and the bolt that attach the actuator rod to the HPT/LPT ACC air valve.

      4. Use the IAE 1J13504 Puller 1 off to remove the cotter pin, the nut, the bolt and the two bushes that attach the stator rod to the ACC valve rod bracket HPC Module - Attaching Parts (72-40-00, 01-790).

      5. Remove the cotter pin, the bolt, the nut and the two bushes that attach the link to the ACC valve bracket.

      6. Remove the ACC valve, the front duct and the rear duct assembly.

      1. Remove the rear duct from the ACC valve.

      2. Remove the six nuts, the six bolts and the bracket that attach the rear duct to the ACC valve.

      3. Remove the rear duct.

      1. Remove the front duct from the ACC valve.

      2. Remove the four nuts and the four bolts that attach the heatshield to the front duct.

      3. Remove the two nuts and the two bolts that attach the two clamps to the ACC valve.

      4. Remove the heatshield and the two clamps.

      5. Remove the 12 nuts and the 12 bolts that attach the front duct to the ACC valve.

      6. NOTE

        The ACC valve must have its maintenance completed as given in the Parker Hannifin Component Maintenance Manual (75-24-51).

        Remove the front duct from the ACC valve.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-189 Check the Configuration of the Valve Vane Removable Plugs (SBE 75-0021)

      CAUTION

      ENGINE LIFE AND/OR PERFORMANCE CAN BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED IF THE ENGINE IS OPERATED WITH THE INCORRECT SBE 75-0021 VALVE VANE REMOVABLE PLUG CONFIGURATION.
    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. NOTE

      The plugs should be installed in the vanes if SBE 75-0021 part 1 or 3 have been accomplished or in the plug storage plate if SBE 75-0021 part 2 has been accomplished.

      Check and record the position of the plugs.

    4. Check the part number of the valve and record.

    5. Make sure that the plug positions in step A and the part number recorded in step B are correct to the requirements stated in SBE 75-0021.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-073 Remove the Core EGT Harness (Pre SBE 79-0087 and SBE 79-0087)

    2. Disconnect the electrical connector 4007VC-A from the electrical receptacle 4007VC.

      1. Pre SBE 79-0087: Disconnect the electrical receptacle from the bracket ENGINE-SECURING FEATURES-HP COMPRESSOR CASES (72-41-00, 03-350).

      2. Remove the four nuts and the four screws.

      3. Remove the receptacle from the bracket.

      1. SBE 79-0087: Disconnect the electrical receptacle from the bracket AIR-ENGINE AIR OFFTAKE DUCTS (75-00-49, 01-680).

      2. Remove the four nuts and the four screws.

      3. Remove the receptacle from the bracket.

    3. Remove the bolts, the washers, the clipnuts and the clips at the clip position 5552 and 5553.

    4. Pre SBE 75-0049 and Pre SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips at the clip positions 5529, 5551 and 5781.

    5. SBE 75-0049 and Pre SBE 79-0087: Remove the bolt, the washers, the spacer and the clips at the clip position 5529.

    6. SBE 79-0087: Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips at the clip positions 5529, 5551 and 6085.

    7. SBE 79-0087: Remove the clip, the clipnut, the nut, the spacer and the bolt at the clip position 6086.

    8. Remove the bolts, the washers, the clipnuts, the spacers and the clips at the clip position 5211.

    9. Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers, the spacers and the clips at the clip positions 5527 and 5550.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-074 Remove the P4.9/EEC Tube (19), the Oil Weep Tube (18) and the No.5 Oil Feed Tube (17)

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Disconnect the tube 19 from the tube 56.

    4. Remove the nuts, the bolts, the washers and the clips from the clip positions 5209 and 5528.

    5. Remove the tube 19.

    6. Disconnect the tube 18 from the diffuser case adapter.

    7. Remove the tube 18.

    8. Disconnect the tube 17 from the tube 24. Remove the restrictor and remove and discard the retaining ring.

    9. Remove the tube 17.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-075-A00 Remove the Cold Buffer Air Tubes (Pre SBE 72-0079)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove tube 11.

      2. SBE 75-0049: Remove the bolt, the spacer, the nut and the two clips from the clip position 5224.

      3. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5225.

      4. Disconnect the tube 16 from the tube 11 and the diffuser case adapter.

      5. Remove the tube 11.

      1. Remove the tube 15.

      2. Remove the bolt, the washer, the spacers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5232, 5233 and 5234.

      3. Disconnect the tube 15 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      4. Remove the tube 15.

      1. Remove the tube 14.

      2. Disconnect the tube 14 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      3. Remove the tube 14.

      1. Remove the tube 13.

      2. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5758.

      3. Disconnect the tube 13 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      4. Remove tube 13.

      1. Remove tube 12.

      2. Remove the bolts, the washers, the spacers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5229, 5230 and 5231.

      3. Remove the tube 12.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-40-020-075-B00 Remove the Cold Buffer Air Tubes (SBE 72-0079)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Remove the tube 11.

      2. SBE 75-0049: Remove the bolt, the spacer, the nut and the two clips from the clip position 5224.

      3. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5225.

      4. Disconnect the tube 16 from the tube 11 and the diffuser case adapter.

      5. Remove the tube 11.

      1. Remove the tube 15.

      2. Remove the bolt, the washer, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5232, 5233 and 5234.

      3. Disconnect the tube 15 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      4. Remove the tube 15.

      1. Remove the tube 14.

      2. Disconnect the tube 14 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      3. Remove the tube 14.

      1. Remove the tube 13.

      2. Remove the nut, the bolt, the washer and the clip from the clip position 5758.

      3. Disconnect the tube 13 from the tube 12 and the diffuser case adapter.

      4. Remove the tube 13.

      1. Remove the tube 12.

      2. Remove the bolts, the washers, the clipnuts and the clips from the clip positions 5229, 5230 and 5231.

      3. Remove the tube 12.
