General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all the parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For the torque tightening procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-01-400-501.

Special torque data is identified with the symbol * after the torque value.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

Transportation covers/blanks must be removed immediately before installation of the components.

For lockwire data and procedures refer to SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.

Do not remove the special plastic caps from the electrical connections until immediately before installation. This will give protection from unwanted fluids and materials. For the data on the connection of the electrical connectors refer to SPM TASK 70-43-00-400-501.

After assembly apply CoMat 07-038 AIR DRYING ENAMEL to damaged surface protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Use the correct color of air drying enamel. Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-21-380-501.

Loosely assemble the tubes together and the clip positions during the installation procedure. This will give flexibility and movement and not put strain on the tubes. Where access allows fully torque the tube nuts and then the clip positions when all the tubes are connected and installed. Torque the nuts securing the tubes at the bifurcation panel after all the tubes have been installed. Refer to each specific step for the torque values and procedure at the point of application.

Torque the tube nuts and clips so that the tubes are free of preload and have a minimum clearance of 0.25 in. (6.4 mm) with adjacent components and structure.

A minimum clearance of 0.02 in. (0.5 mm) is permitted between clip positions 0950 and 0951, between the gearbox and the air starter drain tube (221) and IDG drain tube (229). A minimum clearance of 0.06 in. (1.5 mm) is permitted between the gearbox and the FMU drain tube (225) on the collector plate assembly.

Refer to SPM TASK 70-42-01-400-501 to tighten tube end connectors. Make sure that the tubes always have support to prevent unwanted strain.

Procedure

1. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.
2. Attach the drains mast POWER PLANT-DRAIN TUBE MAST (71-71-42, 01-010) and the collector plate assembly POWER PLANT-DRAIN TUBE MAST (71-71-42, 01-050) to the brackets ENGINE-ANGLE GEARBOX ASSEMBLY (72-60-40, 01-056) and ENGINE-EXTERNAL GEARBOX MODULE (72-60-00, 01-202) on the angle gearbox with the four bolts POWER PLANT-DRAIN TUBE MAST (71-71-42, 01-020). Torque the bolts to 85 lbfin to 105 lbfin (10 Nm to 12 Nm).
3. 1. Lightly lubricate a new OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 02-505) sealing ring 1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS and install it on the banjo coupling OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 02-501). Install the banjo coupling in the gearbox (adjacent to the IDG interface) and torque to 221 lbfin to 239 lbfin. (25 Nm to 27 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
  2. Connect the tube 229 to the banjo coupling and the collector plate assembly. Torque the collector plate connector to 204 lbfin to 221 lbfin (23 Nm to 25 Nm) and the tube connector to 159 to 177 lbfin (18 to 20 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
4. 1. Loosely connect the tube 218 to the ACOC air modulating valve and to the tube 219. Tighten by hand. Loosely connect the tube 219 to the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand.
  2. Assemble clip positions 0949, 0952, 0953 and 0954. Torque the three nuts and the bolt to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  3. Torque the tube 218 connector to 142 lbfin to 150 lbfin (16 to 17 Nm) and the tube 219 and collector plate connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm). Safety the connectors with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
5. 1. Lightly lubricate a new "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 02-105) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS and install it on the union "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 02-101).
  2. Install the union in the gearbox (adjacent to the air starter interface) and torque to 221 lbfin to 239 lbfin (25 Nm to 27 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
  3. Loosely connect the tube 221 to the union and to the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand.
  4. Assemble clip positions 0950 and 0951. Torque the nut and the bolt to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  5. Torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
6. 1. Lightly lubricate a new "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 01-505) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS and install it on the union "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 01-501).
  2. Install the union in the gearbox (adjacent to the hydraulic pump interface) and torque to 221 lbfin to 239 lbfin (25 Nm to 27 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
  3. NOTE
    Tube 222 is attached at clip position 0943 when tube 223 is installed and at clip position 0959 when the fire detector assembly is installed.
    Connect the tube 222 to the union and the collector plate assembly and torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
7. 1. Lightly lubricate a new "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 01-105) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS and install it on the union "OIL,HYDRAULIC AND WATER DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-73-48, 01-101).
  2. Install the union on the oil tank (adjacent to the filler cap) and torque to 221 lbfin to 239 lbfin (25 Nm to 27 Nm). Safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
  3. Loosely connect the tube 223 to the union and the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand.
  4. NOTE
    Tube 223 is attached at clip position 0941 when the fire detector assembly is installed, and at clip position 0942 when tube 224 is installed.
    Assemble the clip positions 0938, 0939, 0940 and 0943. Torque the three bolts and the nut to 36 to 45 lbfin (4 to 5 Nm).
  5. Torque the tube connector to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and the collector plate connector to 204 to 221 lbfin (23 to 25 Nm). Safety the connectors with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
8. 1. Lightly lubricate a new POWER PLANT-FUEL DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-71-48, 03-105) packing 1 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS and install it on the union POWER PLANT-FUEL DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-71-48, 03-102).
  2. Install the union in the gearbox (adjacent to the fuel pump interface) and torque to 221 lbfin to 239 lbfin (25 Nm to 27 Nm). Safety with CoMat 01-126 XYLENE THINNERS C6H4(CH3)2 lockwire.
  3. Loosely connect the tube 224 to the union and the collector plate assemby and tighten by hand.
  4. Pre SBN 71-0147: Assemble the clip positions 0942 and 0944. Torque the nut and the bolt to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  5. SBN 71-0147: Assemble the clip position 0942. Torque the nut and the bolt to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin. (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  6. Torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
9. 1. Loosely connect the tube 225 to the FMU and the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand.
  2. Assemble clip positions 0322, 0945 and 1032. Torque the nuts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  3. NOTE
    A minimum clearance of 0.06 in. (1.5 mm) is permitted between the gearbox and the FMU drain tube (225) on the collector plate assembly.
    Torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
10. 1. Loosely connect the tube 226 to the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand. Connect the tube 227 to the tube 226 and tighten by hand. Connect the tube 228 to the tube 227 and the fuel diverter and tighten by hand.
  2. Pre SBE 71-0004: Assemble the clip positions 0948, 0932, 0931, 0915, 0317, 0919, 0920, 0925, 0924, 0252, 0927, and 0946. Torque the nuts to 36 to 45 lbfin (4 to 5 Nm).
    SBE 71-0004: Assemblr the clip positions 0948, 0932, 0973, 0915, 0317, 0919, 0920, 0925, 0924, 0252, 0927, and 0946. Torque the nuts to 36 to 45 lbfin (4 to 5 Nm).
  3. Torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.
11. 1. Loosely connect the tube 217 to the collector plate assembly and tighten by hand. Connect the tube 216 to the tube 217 and the tube 45 (at the bifurcation panel) and tighten by hand.
  2. Pre SBE 79-0087: Assemble clip positions 0937 and 0968 and torque the nuts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  3. SBE 79-0087: Assemble clip positions 0937, 1454 and 1455 and torque the nuts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  4. Install the two bolts POWER PLANT-FUEL DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-71-48, 03-410) and nuts POWER PLANT-FUEL DRAIN TUBES-POWER PLANT (71-71-48, 03-415) that attach the tube 216 to the bifurcation panel and torque the nuts to 85 lbfin to 105 lbfin (10 Nm to 12 Nm).
  5. Torque the tube connectors to 159 lbfin to 177 lbfin (18 Nm to 20 Nm) and safety with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE.

2. 1. CAUTION
    MAKE SURE THE DETECTOR ELEMENT IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED IN THE GROOVES OF THE RETAINING CLIPS.
    Pre SBN 26-0005: Install a retaining clip to the detector element and the support tube at the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0963, 0964, 0538 and 0933.
  2. SBN 26-0005 and Pre SBN 71-0272: Install a retaining clip to the detector element and the support tube at clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0974, 0975 and 0976.
  3. Hold the retaining clips in position with CoMat 06-086 TIES.
3. 1. Attach the bracket ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-120) to the raft ELECT HARNESS-LIGHT DUTY-GEN SERVICES HARNESS (71-51-43, 05-950) with the two bolts ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-124). Torque the bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  2. Install two clamps ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-700) to each responder ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-100). Put the responders in position on the bracket ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-120) and install the two bolts ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-710) and washers ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-705). Torque the bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  3. Pre SBN 26-0005: Assemble the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0963, 0964, 0538 and 0933.
  4. SBN 26-0005 and Pre SBN 71-0272: Assemble the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0974, 0975 and 0976.
  5. Torque the nuts and bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  6. Make sure the detector element is not twisted or bent.
4. Connect the electrical connectors 4000 WD1-A and 4000 WD2-A to the responders and torque to 18 * lbfin (2 Nm).
1. SBE 79-0087: Oil - Scavenge oil tubes - Re-route of No. 4 bearing scavenge tube.
  SBN 71-0272: Nacelle - Engine Build Unit (EBU) - Replacement and rerouting of several EBU systems to accommodate the rerouting of the oil scavenge tubes.
2. Refer to Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure, Figure and Figure.
3. 1. CAUTION
    MAKE SURE THE DETECTOR ELEMENT IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED IN THE GROOVES OF THE RETAINING CLIPS.
    Pre SBN 26-0005: Install a retaining clip to the detector element and the support tube at the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0963, 0964 and 0933.
  2. SBN 26-0005 and Pre SBN 72-0272: Install a retaining clip to the detector element and the support tube at clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0974, 0975 and 0976.
  3. SBN 71-0272: Install a retaining clip to the detector element and the support tube at clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 1437, 1423 and 1410.
  4. Hold the retaining clips in position with CoMat 06-086 TIES.
4. 1. Attach the bracket ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-120) to the raft ELECT HARNESS-LIGHT DUTY-GEN SERVICES HARNESS (71-51-43, 05-950) with the two bolts ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-124). Torque the bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  2. Install two clamps ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-700) to each responder ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-100). Put the responders in position on the bracket ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 05-120) and install the two bolts ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-710) and washers ACCESSORY ZONE FIRE DETECTOR-RIGHT (26-12-15, 01-705). Torque the bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  3. Pre SBN 26-0005: Assemble the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0963, 0964 and 0933.
  4. SBN 26-0005 and Pre SBN 71-0272: Assemble the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0967, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 0974, 0975 and 0976.
  5. SBN 71-0272: Assemble the clip positions that follow:
    0777, 0778, 0955, 0956, 0957, 0958, 0941, 0959, 0960, 0961, 0962, 1437, 1423 and 1410.
  6. Torque the nuts and bolts to 36 lbfin to 45 lbfin (4 Nm to 5 Nm).
  7. Make sure the detector element is not twisted or bent.
5. Connect the electrical connectors 4000 WD1-A and 4000 WD2-A to the responders and torque to 18 * lbfin (2 Nm).
1. Refer to Figure.
2. Make sure that all the applicable connectors, backshells and cable clamps are secure.
3. Make sure that all the applicable backshells and cable clamps are safetied with CoMat 02-126 LOCKWIRE. Refer to SPM TASK 70-42-05-400-501.
