      - the packing ELECTRICAL POWER-INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR (24-21-51, 01-030)

      - the IDG drive shaft

      - the Qad coupling

      1. CAUTION

INSTALL THE IDG IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE INPUT SHAFT CAN CATCH AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SHAFT SEAL.

        CAUTION

DO NOT USE EXTERNAL PARTS OR TOOLS TO ALIGN THE IDG ON THE GEARBOX. THEY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IDG AND THE GEARBOX.

        CAUTION

MAKE SURE THAT THE IDG INPUT SHAFT DOES NOT HANG ON THE GEARBOX OUTPUT SHAFT. DAMAGE TO THE SHAFTS AND THE SEALS CAN OCCUR.

        Install the IDG as follows:

      2. Put the IDG into position on the gearbox.

      3. Carefully align the IDG drive shaft and the gearbox output shaft.

      4. Push the IDG forward onto the gearbox.

      5. Make sure that the mounting flanges are correctly aligned.

      6. Make sure that the two open marks are aligned.

      7. Make sure that the IDG is correctly engaged in the QAD coupling.

      8. Tighten the QAD coupling until the IDG flange lugs are fully engaged in the QAD coupling lugs.

      9. Make sure that the QAD coupling turns easily and does not catch.

      10. TORQUE the QAD coupling to between 265 and 310 lbfin (30 and 35 Nm).

      11. Lightly hit the QAD coupling circumference to center it and make sure that the torque values are correct.

      12. Do a check of the torque value on the QAD coupling.

      13. Make sure that the torque has not decreased by more than 24 lbfin (0.31 mdaN) from that in Step.

      14. If necessary do Step thru Step again.

      15. Make sure that the torque value of the QAD coupling is between the limits given in Step.

      16. Safety the QAD coupling with CoMat 02-147 LOCKWIRE.

    5. Remove the Removal/Installation Tool 1 off.
